Armagh Ladies hockey Club are delighted to announce former Ulster & Irish player as their new head coach for the upcoming season.

Ian is a highly rated coach within Ulster Hockey and joins one of the most proactive and talent rich clubs in Ireland. Armagh has a rich history of developing very exciting top Ulster and Irish players, with a very strong junior programme. Ian’s role will be to overseas the transition of junior players into the senior club and to build a competitive squad to compete this season and hopefully try and secure a Premier League promotion.

Speaking after the announcement Club spokesperson Niall McCool said: “It’s fantastic news for Armagh Ladies to be able to announce Ian as our new head coach. His vast experience as a player and competing at the top table for so long will add real value to the players and their growth. Ian is very quickly increasing his reputation as one of the best coaches in Ulster and we are delighted to have him here at Armagh. We pride ourselves on bring in the best coaches to develop our players and Ian is most certainly that.

McCool continued: “Ian is another element within our club 5 year plan. We have carried out a SWOT analysis on the club and we are always looking to improve and strengthen areas. We have entered into a 5 year cycle of improvement and growth and the ultimate aim is to take the ladies back to the top level. We have very exciting young talent coming through the club and over the next 2-3 season we will start seeing the fruits of the labour.”
